Grappling has also been an interest to me since I was cross training in MMA during my mid-twenties. The reason why I have not continued training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was the cost. A school was charging me $150 a month in 2007, then I stopped after a couple of months of training. But I alway cross trained with friends who did BJJ (Gi and no Gi) and other grappling styles. Once you figure out leverage, it became fun finding ways to submit someone. My Tai Chi training helped me during grappling in terms of sensitivity, breathing and keeping relaxed. The Tai Chi concept of being “formless” allowed me to explore the different ways of experimenting with different types of submissions.
