These 3 videos discusses Tai-Chi concepts on how to deal with punches. I use the punching style of boxing as a platform because of its simplicity and effectiveness in fight altercations. Boxing only has 5 basic punches: 1. jab 2. cross 3. hook 4. uppercut 5. overhand. And 5 basic defenses: 1. bob 2. slip 3. weave 4. parry 5. cover. Combined with the footwork, boxing is quick to learn and can be applied quickly in fight situations. I would not say I’m a proficient boxer, but I do cross train in boxing from time to time. Boxing is effective and straight to the point, so I want to see and learn how a Tai-Chi practitioner would deal with boxing punches.
